About this work
The figure was painted from a studio reference in two short sittings. The pyramid is a flat shape with a single shadow plane — the goal was to break the illusion exactly where the viewer expects a face. Yellow ochre, lemon yellow, and warm grey. The background is left scumbled so the eye doesn't search it for a horizon.
